Dr. Dweck's go to's:

There are so many products to choose from when it comes to women’s health; sifting through them can be confusing and onerous.

Like most practicing gynecologists, I have a few “go to” recommendations for my patients in need.

Keeping vaginal pH in check is crucial to maintain the vaginal microbiome, which is connected to urinary health success.

Vaginal probiotics

This recommendation applies to anyone with a vagina who is sexually active, menopausal or menstruating and want to optimize vaginal health.

Of course vaginal health and urinary tract health are intimately associated so it’s important to be mindful of both. A good vaginal probiotic helps to maintain the vaginal pH, particularly when women are exposed to so many pH disruptors day to day.

Uqora Promote is a fabulous vaginal probiotic with all the right stuff to maintain a healthy vaginal biome.

Moisturizers and lubricants

I recommend lubricant to any of my patients showing signs of vaginal dryness or pain during sex or for those look to enhance their experience. It’s particularly important to be mindful of lubricant ingredients as it has a likelihood of entering and traveling up the urethra. Some lubricants with harsh chemicals or ingredients can throw off vaginal pH.

  1. Uberlube: is pure silicone with a trace of vitamin E to reduce friction.

  2. Revaree vaginal moisturizer: this is a great option for those suffering from vaginal dryness. I love that it is hormone-free. I am also the CMO for Bonafide and I stand behind this product 1000%.

  3. Coconut oil from any reputable brand: if all else fails, try organic coconut oil! You can get this at any grocery store for a natural approach — watch the sheets and may not be condom compatible.

For any period-related or sexual health product, it's important to be mindful of its ingredients as they could disrupt vaginal pH.

3 super cool femcare products:

  1. Cora organic tampons: for anything being inserted into the vagina, it’s extremely important to be aware of the ingredients. I love that these are made with 100% certified organic cotton core and made without pesticides, dioxins, chlorine, fragrance. However, it’s still important to remove a tampon after 8 hours use, tops.
  2. Ohnut device: this is really novel and oh so helpful for those with pain during intercourse. It’s like a sexual donut and alleviates discomfort through this cushion like device.
  3. Awkward Essentials sex clean up sponge: I love how unique this is! It’s a sponge made out of soft, medical grade “sponge” material, no chemicals added. It will quickly and easily remove all the excess fluids internally if needed. After use, I still recommend urinating after intercourse.

For any period-related or sexual health product, it's important to be mindful of its ingredients as they could disrupt vaginal pH.
